Despite a colder May than I can remember, the light has been fantastic. This image is from my memories of my May walks, it is oil on board and very textured.

This image is oil on canvas and is evoked by a walk at the beach.  That day the sun was kind enough to poke through, after what has been the gloom of this month. It has really been April showers, though definitely more showers than anything else and plenty of grey, grey, grey!

Doggy Sketches

I have loads of sketch books, I keep one in every room in the house and always have one with me wherever I go.  To me sketches are not just reference material for a painting but also like looking back at old photos, except better as they really capture a feeling of the memory.  Below are some examples of dogs, from one of my books.

Spring Coast

Spring Coast is the title of my latest abstract work, it is oil on canvas.  I painted this after a walk, on one of the first days of Spring, when at long last you could actually feel the warmth of the sun on your face. Although sunny, it was misty as well, which only added to the atmosphere!

A HUNDRED TONS OF CHALK

The image below is of a cliff fall, we had in my village a couple of weeks ago, bringing down a hundred tons of chalk. There was another cliff fall a week later,  in the next village along. Luckily, no-one was underneath either one at the time!!

A big thank you to Roberto Alboghetti  for nominating me for the “Very Inspiring Blogger Award”. Roberto’s blog is absolutely stunning and most definitely inspiring. His content is varied, interesting and visually pleasing and his art is beautiful! I am such a newbie to blogging and would never thought of my blog as inspiring, so I was greatly touched and encouraged!

The rules of this award are, I have to share 7 things about myself. So here they are:

  1. My family say I’m stubborn, I don’t know why ………
  2. I love chocolate, a bit too much for my own good!
  3. My star sign is Pisces.
  4. I adore my dog and would  be lost without him.
  5. My family say I’m  mischievous, again I don’t know why………
  6. I like to visits cities but would go mad if I had to live in one. I love the country, the sea and      nature and the peace and space that they provide.
  7. Family and love are most important things in life to me

I also have to nominate 7 other bloggers for this award. Being so new to blogging, I have been truly inspired by all the people listed below, all in their own unique and individual ways.

Blowing Up The Past

This video is of the demolition of Richborough Power Station. A significant event for me, as for eighteen years, we used to live fairly near and the cooling towers dominated the landscape for miles around. These were not happy years, so it was good to see them go and it literally felt like the past was being blown up.

Apart from a brief period of floral water colours, the work I first started exhibiting in galleries, was figurative. I started with pastels, and then moved on to oils. Below are two examples from the late 90′s.

“The Old Gent”  Oil on Board

“The Watcher” Oil on Canvas
