My brother asked for a painting for Christmas, whatever I wanted to do, but with him in mind. I obsessed a lot about what to paint and in the end I looked at the work of his favorite artists, put on his favorite music and thought about where he lives (Spain). It turned out to be a lot of fun, not my usual kind of painting, it was great to use a vibrantly warm palette and also a more linear approach. I was really nervous about giving it to him (so much easier to buy him something), but thankfully he was delighted, which was a blessed relief!! Below is the only photo I have of the painting (taken luckily by someone else) just after he opened it.
This is my latest and last painting of the year. No time left now to paint, due to running around like a headless chicken trying to organise Christmas!!
Oil on Canvas 24″ x 30″
Below is my beloved dog: Gordon. He is kind enough to acompany me on all my walks and he particulary likes it when we go with my husband and end up at our local pub on the beach!! He is also fond of lying in the middle of my very small studio, so when I step back from the easel I trip over him!! When he is not hard at work helping me paint he likes nothing better than a snooze on the sofa.
snooze on the sofa.
Whilst working on a mist painting, I became very frustrated. It was so stoppy starty due to numerous interruptions of one nature or another. When finished I was very unhappy with the result!! I then felt an urgent need for colour, I grabbed a canvas and below is the result.
