It was such a delight to wake up this morning and find a good covering of snow. I was really excited and dropped all other plans, so I could immediately try and capture something of what, so inspired me. The result is the painting below.
Huge apologies to all my followers for not having blogged for so long !! I’m afraid life rather overtook me in 2012, with various family dramas and other things. I continued my semi abstract journey last year and in the last couple of months I began experimenting with pure abstract. Also in the latter part of the year, I started adding bronze powder to some of my oil paintings. Below are a couple of examples of work from 2012, if you would like to see more check out my new website www.nikkiwheeler.com Happy new year to everyone 🙂
I painted this from memories and feelings, after walking through the National Trust wood, in our village. Its small, but beautiful at every time of year and particularly of course when its covered in bluebells. I was worried this could turn into a kitsch painting because of the subject matter, it took ages to do and consumed a lot of paint!!
